Dear colleagues,
Why is Orange County its own region? This makes no sense whatsoever. Making Orange County its own region is akin to Wyoming and California having the same representation in the US Senate in spite of the wildly disparate population numbers in these two states. Orange County does not deserve to be a region with the same representation as the entirety of the SF Bay Area, for example.
The larger Los Angeles basin region needs to be one formal region encompassing Orange, LA, and Ventura. The four coastal counties from Santa Barbara to Santa Cruz are the Central Coast (probably San Benito does belong in this region as well). Santa Clara is considered part of the larger SF Bay Area region. San Joaquin is part of the Central Valley.
